Frequently asked questions
Where is my data stored?
Everything you capture with PinProof — photos, video, location, notes and markup — is stored only on your iPhone. PinProof does not require an internet connection or an account, and it does not upload your data to us or to anyone else.
I'm changing phones. How do I keep my photos?
Before you set up a new iPhone, export a PDF report or a ZIP of the projects you need to keep, and save the export somewhere outside PinProof — for example, the Files app, iCloud Drive, or by sending it to yourself. An iCloud or Finder backup of your old phone may also carry PinProof's data across as part of a full device restore, but a manual export is the more reliable way to make sure you have what you need.
Why does a photo show "Low accuracy" for GPS?
PinProof reports the accuracy figure your iPhone's location services actually return at the moment of capture. Indoors, near tall buildings, or in poor signal conditions, GPS accuracy can be much lower than outdoors in the open. When accuracy is low, PinProof flags it on the capture rather than showing a falsely precise number. Where GPS isn't available at all, you can confirm the location manually instead.
How do I change a photo or video's number?
Open the capture and edit its number from the capture detail screen. PinProof keeps a history of any number changes, so the original numbering is never silently lost.
If I mark up a photo, is the original changed?
No. PinProof never modifies the original photo. Any arrows, labels, blur or signature you add are saved to a separate annotated copy, and PinProof generates a SHA-256 integrity code for the original file on your device.
What happens if I delete the app?
Because PinProof's data lives only on your device, deleting the app removes the photos, video and notes stored inside it. Export anything you need — as a PDF report or a ZIP file — before you delete PinProof or reset your phone.
